Alton Benes is the father of Elaine Benes, and a famous writer. He is an angry man, and he has many problems with everybody, stated when Elaine says of him, "usually he hates everyone". He also doesn't say much, although his comments are usually never good. Alton only appears in "The Jacket", unlike other family members of the main characters, who all appeared several times. Alton in portrayed by Lawrence Tierney.
